                                     Pioneer Valley Youth Baseball League Safe Play Procedures

All adult coaches and organizers of the Pioneer Valley Youth Baseball League shall be the subject annually of a check for past criminal activity, especially a review of records for crimes against children.  Such reviews shall be undertaken by the Police or Parks Department of the town in which an association is located or by another entity authorized to conduct background checks.  If reviews cannot be arranged by an association, the Commissioner of the league shall undertake such reviews and report any notable findings to the Board of Directors.

Any adult who fails to pass a background check shall be barred from participating in league activity.  Any adult who is accused of child abuse shall be suspended from further participation until a review is completed by the Directors and the adult is deemed to be innocent of all allegations of such misconduct.

Similarly, any adult who is accused of child abuse shall be reported to the Police Department of the area of the alleged incident.

All practices of PVYBL teams shall be team events.  That is, no "one on one" instruction of a player by a coach shall be permitted.  Moreover, there shall be twice as many players as adult supervisors at all team practices and games.
